In the middle of May 2018, Fujifilm making news again by releasing another mirrorless camera device called Fujifilm X-A20. This release is not so long after the Japanese camera manufacturer release the other mirrorless device called X-A5. Well, why is so hurry, trying to chase the target, Fuji?
Even if both cameras look relatively the same, but Fujifilm X-A20 has different segmentation compared to the X-A5. If X-A5 is equipped with more sophisticated features and aimed for more professional use, the new X-A20 is rather different. The features are bit more traditional and resemblance to the previous X-A10. In fact, this Non-Intrue Digital Camera is aimed in respect to update the previous X-A10.
Fujifilm X-A20 Design
If we see all Fujifilm X–A series from X-A1, X-A2, X-A3, X-A5, X-A10, and now X-A20, these cameras share so many resemblances in term of design. But, specifically for X-A20, its design is very identical to X-A10. It’s retro, compact, and having intuitive control. Dimension stretches for 4.6 x 2.7 x 1.6″ (116.9 x 67.4 x 40.4 mm), and the camera weights for just 494 grams, which make this camera felt so right in hand.
On the rear side of Fujifilm X-A20, we can see a 3.0 inches touchscreen with 1.04m dots that can be tilted 180ᵒ to the front side.
When this screen is tilted to the front, the Eye-AF will be automatically activated and it will lock the focus on subject’s eyes.
Surely, this kind of mechanism will be perfect for those who like to do selfie.
As stated before, the control of this camera is very intuitive. To support selfie, the two command dials are placed in reachable place in order to be more reachable even when user uses it with one hand.
But, for you who are not getting used to do one hand control, you can use the touchscreen for the controls. All you need is touching the screen for doing the same function as shutter release, AF area selection, focus selection, Playback, zooming, and slide. This is the reason why this camera is great for beginner.
Fujifilm X-A20 Specifications
Features on Fujifilm X-A20 are pretty decent. On the sensory aspect, the camera has CMOS sensor with 16.3 Mp resolutions. With Fuji’s well known color reproduction system, this camera is able to result a good quality of images with great detail and accurate skin tone. This is not something new actually, as Fuji’s color reproduction system has been known for about 80 years in the industry for being the highly considerable system to show excellent quality of images.
Moreover, this sensor has been equipped with the new Bayer Color Filtration technology just like what we have in Fujifilm X-A5 for better image processing. In the video recording capability, Fujifilm X-A20 can record 1080P movie at 30, 25, and 24 fps, and 720P at 60, 50, and 24 fps.
Electronic shutter speed reaches 1/32000 seconds, which is impressive. While for ISO sensitivity, it ranges between ISO 200 all the way up to ISO 6400.
However, this ISO compensation still can be expanded from ISO 100 until 12.800 and ISO 25.600. So, shooting in low light wouldn’t be a problem anymore even though you have to consider about noise. Furthermore, to create more aesthetic footage, the camera also has 6 film simulations for video, and 10 creative filter modes for the photo.
Power and Connectivity
One of the considerations in buying a new camera is the power. and for this reason, Fuji has equipped the X-A20 with NP-W126 battery. This battery is claimed to have capacity of shooting 410 photos in one single charge.
Move to the connectivity, you can connect the camera with your personal device by using WiFi (802.11 b/g/n). This WiFi can also be used to do remote control, file sharing, and location synchronization through the GPS from your smartphone. Other notable features from this camera are built-in pop-up flash with smart flash system, 49-area contrast detect autofocus, microphone input, and SD, SDHC, SDXC support.
Fujifilm X-A20 Price
There’s still no impression toward this camera yet since probably, there are still few people tried this camera on. This is because the new Fujifilm X-A20 was just announced in May 20th 2018, which was yesterday. But, seeing the feature, this camera probably will perform just good, remembering the resolution is quite lower with 16.3 MP only, while other competes already use at least more than 20 MP.
However, on paper resolution is not everything, and we’re very impressed with the design. Also, the presence of Bayer Color Filtration system is pretty promising. Estimated to be sold with the XC 15-45mm kit lens with F3.5-5.6 OIS, the price of this camera is still not confirmed yet. But, considering the feature, Fujifilm X-A20 is expect to not too different with X-A10.
